IPCC Graph Shows Human Impact on Warming Climate
The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change (IPCC)—released every 6-7 years—confirms that human activity has warmed the planet to unprecedented temperatures.
This graph shows changes in average global surface temperatures relative to an 1850-1900 baseline.
The solid gray line from year 1 through 2000 shows the global surface temperature during that time and was reconstructed using paleoclimatic data. The gray, shaded area is the ‘very likely range’ in which those historic temperatures could fall.
The solid blue line on the right shows the observed temperature changes since official record-keeping began in 1850 through 2020.
