The U.S. alpine ski team is showing off new, custom-designed race suits at the world championships in France. As always, the gear is fashionable, but these suits are also bringing awareness to the ongoing threat of climate change.

Team members are sporting a blue and white suit featuring images of ice chunks floating across the ocean, which was inspired by a satellite image of icebergs calving as a result rising temperatures. U.S. Ski & Snowboard collaborated with its technical apparel sponsor, Kappa, and nonprofit organization Protect Our Winters (POW) to design the suits.

U.S. Ski & Snowboard President and CEO Sophie Goldschmidt, pointed out in a statement that the suits will not solve the climate crisis, but will ‘continue the conversation‘ and show that the team, along with its athletes, ‘are committed to being a part of the future.’
