10 Shot, 4 Killed During a Backyard Football Watch Party

The gunmen reportedly walked into the yard during the party and opened fire.

At least four people are dead and six more are injured after two shooters opened fire during a backyard football watch party in Freso, CA, officials said.

About 30 people were gathered at the home when two men reportedly came into the backyard just before 8 p.m. Sunday and began shooting at the group, police said.

Fresno Police Chief Andrew Hall said on Monday that children were inside the home, but none were hurt. He also said about 16 men were outside in the yard when the shooting happened.

"Somebody came up on foot, possibly at least one suspect and began firing," Fresno Deputy Police Chief Michael Reid said. "They fired into the backyard where most of the people were in this party, striking 10 people."

Three victims were pronounced dead on the scene, and one person died at the hospital. Those who were injured were treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Police are searching for surveillance footage that could help them identify the shooters, who escaped before police could catch them.

ABC reported that the victims may have known the suspects.

"It’s very likely that it was targeted — we just don’t know why," Reid said. "Somebody picked that house and came up and shot several times on the backside of it. It looks like there was a target."
