Biden Tells NowThis He Would Support a Federal Fund for Abortion Seekers

“I do support that, and I've publicly urged companies to do that," said Biden.

On October 18, NowThis sat down for an exclusive Presidential Forum with President Joe Biden, in which he engaged in conversation with a collection of young change-makers on six key issues for the midterm elections: abortion access, trans rights, criminal legal reform, gun legislation, climate, and the economy.

During a segment on abortion access, Dr. Danielle Mathisen, a 26-year-old OB/GYN, asked Biden if he would be supportive of a federal fund to help pregnant people cover certain economic costs associated with seeking an abortion, as some companies have in recent months.

“The answer is absolutely,” Biden said. “I do support that, and I've publicly urged companies to do that. I've urged them publicly as President of the United States saying, “This is what you should be doing.’’

“I urge you to do it because there's so many, and imagine the women who need that kind of assistance but have no money at all to be able to do this. None,” Biden continued. “How, how — what do they do? They don't have the option.”

NowThis’ full, hour-long Presidential Forum with Joe Biden will premiere on Sunday, October 23, at 7:00 pm EDT, across all of NowThis’ social channels on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
