ChatGPT Is the Fastest Growing App Ever, With 100M+ Users In 2 Months

ChatGPT has only been around for 2 months, but it already appears to be the fastest-growing consumer-facing app ever. The AI tool already has 100 million monthly users, according to research from investment bank UBS. The report uses data from analytics firm Similarweb, which found that approx 13 million unique visitors used ChatGPT per day in January.
“In 20 years following the internet space, we cannot recall a faster ramp in a consumer internet app,” USB’s analysts wrote in the study. For comparison, it took 9 months for TikTok to reach 100 million monthly users. Instagram took 2.5 years to hit the mark.

With the fast growth, the app runs the risk of losing hype and seeing its growth taper off in the months to come. “The next question is obviously what its staying power will be. There may be an element of people just coming to look,” UBS Equities Analyst Lloyd Walmsley told CBS News.
