A popular gourmet cat food brand announced last week that it would be opening a feline food-themed restaurant for humans in New York City later this month.

According to a July 26 press release from Purina, Gatto Bianco by Fancy Feast will be a “limited-time, Italian-style trattoria and culinary experience in New York City, to celebrate its new globally inspired Medleys recipes.” The release also stated that the menu, composed of “dishes (for humans!),” would be inspired by Fancy Feast’s latest Medleys recipes for cats. Fancy Feast in-house chef Amanda Hassner and Michelin star-winning Italian chef and restaurateur Cesare Casella will be curating the offerings, according to the release.

“Food has the power to connect us to others in meaningful ways and take us to places we have never been. The same is true for our cats,” Hassner said. “The dishes at Gatto Bianco are prepared in ways that help cat owners understand how their cats experience food – from flavor, to texture, to form – in a way that only Fancy Feast can.”

Gatto Bianco will be open for business on August 11 and 12 only, with four 2-person reservations per evening. A total of eight diners will be invited to sample a complimentary tasting menu. The pop-up dining experience will be located between Manhattan’s West Village and the Meatpacking District, per the release. Reservations will be available for booking on OpenTable starting August 4 at 12:00 pm EST.
