Kid Rock Donates $5,000 to Daniel Penny’s GiveSendGo Legal Defense Fund
Penny was charged with second-degree manslaughter after he put Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold on an NYC subway on May 1.

Country rap-rocker Kid Rock has been revealed as a big donor to a legal defense fund for Daniel Penny, the Marine veteran charged with second-degree manslaughter after he put Jordan Neely in a fatal chokehold on an NYC subway on May 1.
The fund, which was started on Christian crowdfunding website GiveSendGo, has surpassed $2 million in donations from sources like Kid Rock, who gave $5,000 with the accompanying message, “Mr. Penny is a hero.” Joining Kid Rock in making donations were political commentator Tim Pool, who gave $20,000 in support of Penny, and Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who donated $10,000.
Penny faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted in the death of Neely, a man who had been experiencing homelessness in NYC. Protests erupted across NYC when a video emerged showing Penny placing Neely in a chokehold. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement that Penny’s arrest came after conducting witness interviews and reviewing photos and footage from the scene, along with a report from the medical examiner’s office ruling Neely's death a homicide.
