More Than 75% of Employees Want To Work for Companies That Support Abortion Access: Survey
Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Meta and founder of Lean In, said in a statement that reproductive rights are essential for women’s lives and careers.
A new survey conducted by LeanIn.Org last month found that employees under 40 years old prioritize employers who will publicly commit to supporting abortion access. Researchers surveyed over 3,000 working individuals with different political backgrounds and found that 76% of them said they are more likely to work for a company that supports reproductive rights.
Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Meta and founder of Lean In, said in a statement that reproductive rights are essential for women’s lives and careers. The survey found that abortion rights are important to an overwhelming number of women when it comes to career advancement, with 82% saying they believe ‘having control over whether and when they have a child is critical to pursuing their career goals.’
Men were also included as participants in the survey, and 74% of those men said they would want to work for a workplace that supports access to abortion.
‘If companies don’t protect employees’ right to choose, they risk losing future leaders,’ the study’s authors wrote on LeanIn.org. ‘34% of women and men under age 40 are considering switching jobs in light of the overturn of Roe, either to work for a company that offers more generous reproductive healthcare benefits, or to work for a company that publicly supports access to abortion.’
