Basketball legend Kobe Bryant is being remembered for his history-making career on Sunday, after he died in a helicopter crash in California. The five-time NBA champion played with the Los Angeles Lakers for 20 seasons, from 1996-2016. His final game before retirement, during which he scored 60 points, was nationally televised.

Bryant was revered for his talent and scoring point after point on the court. In 2006, he scored 81 points in a single night during a game against the Toronto Raptors.

Bryant retired in 2016 and received a star-filled tribute to his career.

After retiring, Bryant kept busy empowering younger athletes. He started his own sports academy for young athletes.

One day before his death, Bryant sent a congratulatory tweet to LeBron James after he surpassed Bryant on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
