The demon spider crab “I voted” stickers that went viral in July are officially in circulation, as Election Day is upon us. Officials in Ulster County, NY, say the stickers are at least partially the reason for the strong turnout.

The sticker was designed as part of a contest to redesign the city's “I voted” stickers and was submitted by a local teenager. It easily won, garnering 228k of the 243k votes cast during the online poll. The design has inspired memes, costumes, and even a few tattoos.

During early voting, Ulster County Board of Elections Commissioner Ashley Dittus told the Daily Freeman, “I think it’s getting people to come out and get excited about voting.” Dittus also reported it’s been difficult to keep them in stock at polling places.
