Videos of the attack have surfaced online, showing the 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, on the floor as at least 2 men beat him. One of the assailants can be heard saying, “Take a picture. I’m gonna be famous now.”
“He had cuts to his face and bruises. Employees heard the disturbance and the perpetrators fled. Police in South Florida were called and he was transported via ambulance to a local hospital,” his attorney Lance Lazzaro said in a statement.
6ix9ine was sentenced to 2 years in federal prison for racketeering, assault, carrying a firearm, and conspiracy murder charges. He was released early in April 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns; Lazzaro stated that the rapper has “respiratory ailments such as asthma,” which put him at a “heightened risk.”
Lazzaro told TMZ that he plans to work with federal officials to get security protection for 6ix9ine.
