Sneaky Shelter Cat Frees Other Cats
This clever cat will NOT be contained.
The staff at a Texas animal shelter couldn’t figure out how their cats kept getting out overnight — then they found out one sneaky feline was letting them out.
The Friends For Life Animal Rescue and Adoption Organization discovered that Quilty the cat was letting his friends out of the shelter’s senior room, so they could roam around.
“Quilty loves to let cats out of the senior room. Repeatedly. Several times a day,” they wrote on their Facebook page. “We have since Quilty-proofed the cat room, while he took a brief hiatus in the lobby. His roommates missed him while he was banished to the lobby. They enjoyed their nighttime escapades around the shelter. The staff, however, did not miss the morning cat wrangling, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree there.”
The cat’s antics even continued after he was caught. In an updated comment, the rescue said that, after Quilty-proofing the space, he still managed to escape his enclosure.
“Y’all, this cat released himself FROM THE INTEGRATION KENNEL IN THE ROOM…” they said.
According to their post, Quilty’s stealthy tactics preceded his time at the shelter, and he used to help his “dog sibling” get into the house at his old home. They also encouraged anyone looking for a cat “that gets along with dogs but does not get along with closed doors” to adopt him.
“Please. Come meet him,” they said. “And take him home. Please...”
