To Celebrate National Cinema Day, Movie Theaters Are Releasing $4 Tickets
According to Deadline, last year’s National Cinema Day, the foundation's first, made $24 million and brought in more than 8 million moviegoers.

The Cinema Foundation has declared August 27 National Cinema Day. To celebrate, movie theaters across the country are offering $4 tickets. Juggernauts like AMC and small art houses alike are getting in on the action.
The foundation is a nonprofit that seeks to “advance the moviegoing experience, by developing future diverse workforces and moviegoing communities through research, education, and philanthropy.” Cinema Foundation President Jackie Brenneman said in a statement, “We welcome everyone to join us for the communal experience of one of America’s favorite past times.”
According to Deadline, last year’s National Cinema Day, the foundation's first, made $24 million and brought in more than 8 million moviegoers, spurring on cinema’s rebound from the lag caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, with the ongoing interest in twin blockbusters “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” the project is hoping to bring even more viewers back to theaters.
