Tom Cruise’s next film might literally be a “mission impossible.” The action star is reportedly planning to film an upcoming movie in space. Among the stunts it would reportedly showcase is a spacewalk outside the real-life International Space Station.

If Cruise were indeed to perform that feat, he would be the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the ISS. The project would also be the first narrative feature film to ever shoot in space, according to Variety.

“Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan,” Donna Langley, chair of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, told the BBC last week. “Taking a rocket up to the space station and shooting and hopefully being the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station,” she added.

The film’s budget is reportedly around $200 million, and both NASA and SpaceX are reportedly collaborating with the producers and Cruise in the project’s early stages. Doug Liman, who directed the star in “Edge of Tomorrow,” is slated to direct the film.
