WATCH: Missing Radioactive Capsule Found on Remote Road in Australia
A radioactive capsule that was missing for several days in Western Australia has been safely located on the side of the highway.
The capsule, which was intended for use in a piece of mining equipment by the company Rio Tinto, is believed to have fallen off a truck mid-transport.
The device would have caused serious health problems if handled by an unsuspecting individual.
“When you consider the scope of the research area, locating this object was a monumental challenge, the search groups have quite literally found the needle in the haystack,” state Emergency Services Minister Stephen Dawson said during a press conference on Feb 1.
