WATCH: Realistic Baby Sculpture in Spain Brings Awareness to Public Breastfeeding
A realistic sculpture of a crying baby appeared in a plaza in Madrid, Spain, this week. The work of artist Cristina Jobs, the sculpture is part of a campaign pushing for better protections for mothers who breastfeed in public.
Though there is no law prohibiting public breastfeeding in Spain, the initiative cites many women who say they have been harassed, intimidated, or criticized for breastfeeding in public. According to the campaign’s data, only 36% of women say they are comfortable breastfeeding in public spaces.
