Yuck or Yum: Blue Bell Is Releasing Dr Pepper-Flavored Ice Cream
2 established Texas brands are teaming up in hopes of going big with a summertime treat.

The saying goes: 'Everything is bigger in Texas.' And now, 2 established Texas brands are teaming up in hopes of going big with a summertime treat. Blue Bell’s Dr Pepper Float ice cream is described as creamy vanilla ice cream swirled with a Dr Pepper-flavored sherbert.
Both companies have Texas roots. According to CNN, Dr Pepper was founded in 1885 in Waco and rose to prominence in the soda industry by the end of the 20th century. Meanwhile, Blue Bell was started in 1807 by a group of businessmen in Brenham who were making butter from excess cream from local farms.
'Our Texas heritage is so important to us at Dr Pepper, and we are excited to team up with fellow Texas-born brand, Blue Bell, to create this new delicious treat,' shared senior VP of Dr Pepper Brand Marketing John Alvarado in a press release.
The new flavor was stocked on store shelves in 23 states beginning May 18 and will be available until next year.
