Fmr Ambassador Kurt Volker & NSC Adviser Tim Morrison Testify In Impeachment Hearing

Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman & Jennifer Williams, who both listened to Trump’s Ukraine call, testified earlier this morning.

Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman and Jennifer Williams testified on Day 3 of the historic impeachment hearings against Pres. Trump. Vindman is a top White House Ukraine expert, and Williams is a senior Pence aide—both listened to Trump's July 25 call as he pressed Ukraine to investigate his political rivals and both expressed alarm over it.

Vindman claims that the “transcript” of the call released by the White House is missing key sections. In his opening statement, he said, "It is improper for the President of the United States to demand a foreign government investigate a U.S. citizen and political opponent." He was also applauded after he explained why he felt safe enough in America to speak truthfully about the Trump administration.

While testifying how he personally witnessed Trump abuse his power by trying to extort Ukraine, Vindman was accused of “dual loyalty” by several councilmembers.  But he was quick to defend his character, explaining, “I’d call myself never partisan.”

Williams told House investigators that she thinks the president’s requests to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky were "unusual and inappropriate."

Trump tweeted about Williams’ remarks on November 17, saying, “Tell Jennifer Williams, whoever that is, to read BOTH transcripts of the presidential calls, & see the just released statement from Ukraine. Then she should meet with the other Never Trumpers, who I don’t know & mostly never even heard of, & work out a better presidential attack!”

Williams was on the call in question, and noted in her opening statement that she’s served both Republican and Democratic presidents.

Kurt Volker, the former State Department envoy to Ukraine, and Tim Morrison, a former National Security Council aide who also listened to the Trump-Zelensky call, were questioned.

Volker is the former special envoy who accompanied Amb. Gordon Sondland to Ukraine when Sondland ratcheted up the pressure on Ukraine's president at Trump's behest. Morrison was the top Russia expert on the National Security Council. He was on the line during the infamous July 25 call. Both men resigned after the scandal broke.

Along with praising Biden, Volker notably changed his story on the Trump-Ukraine scandal.
