World Leaders Caught on Video Ridiculing Trump at NATO Summit
“I watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor.”
Several world leaders who were seemingly unaware of rolling video cameras were caught on video ridiculing President Donald Trump at the NATO summit this week.
During the summit in London on Tuesday, Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau held a dual press conference in which Trump launched into a lengthy rant about his own impeachment hearing.
Later that day, footage emerged of Trudeau and other world leaders, including UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron, at Buckingham Palace, chiding Trump’s rant.
In the video, Johnson asked Macron about being late, to which Trudeau says, “He was late because [Trump] takes a 40-minute press conference off the top.” He also told the group, “I watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor.”
When questioned about the footage the next day, ahead of a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Trump called Trudeau “two-faced” He also tweeted that he would be cutting his time at the summit short, and would not be doing a press conference.
“When today’s meetings are over, I will be heading back to Washington … We won’t be doing a press conference at the close of Nato because we did so many over the past two days. Safe travels to all!” Trump tweeted.
Trudeau later confirmed he was indeed talking about Trump’s impromptu press conferences before meetings with himself and Macron, but reportedly said that the comment about jaws dropping was in reference to the upcoming G7 Summit being held at Camp David, rather than at Trump’s Miami resort.
