Families Speak Out About Health Problems Linked to Nearby Fracking Wells
‘Skin issues, rashes, breathing issues, … behavioral issues’ — These southwestern PA residents spoke out about how living near fracking sites has affected their health.
In 2019, Environmental Health News, a publication of nonprofit Environmental Health Sciences, tested the air, water, and urine of 5 families in Southwestern Pennsylvania for evidence of chemicals that are emitted from fracking wells.
What they found were unhealthy levels of toxic chemicals such as toluene, benzene, ethylbenzene, and styrene.
