Indigenous Fire Brigades Need Your Help to Protect the World's Biodiversity
Indigenous fire brigades are fighting to save their forests. Indigenous people protect 80% of the world's biodiversity but hold land rights to only 10%.
The Global Alliance of Territorial Communities is made up of more than 1,800 Indigenous and local communities in Indonesia, Mesoamerica, Brazil, and the Amazon Basin. It watches over nearly 1 billion acres of forest, protecting it from fires and deforestation.
'Guardians of the Forest' often work as volunteers and need more and better equipment to keep up their valuable services.
