UK Ruling Attributes Death of Woman’s Daughter to Air Pollution

‘The air we breathe is killing us and that’s what they need to think about’ — A first-of-its-kind ruling attributed the cause of death for this woman’s daughter to air pollution.

Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah was 9 years old on February 15, 2013 when she died after an asthma attack.

It wasn’t until 2020, after 7+ years of Ella’s mom Rosamund fighting to have Ella’s death attributed to the air pollution near her London home that it finally happened.

A 2018 report found air pollution levels a mile away from the high-traffic area where Ella’s family lived exceeded lawful EU limits of air pollution in the 3 years preceding her death.
