Volunteers have rescued thousands of 'cold-stunned' sea turtles in Texas.
As millions of Texans are left without heat, thousands of sea turtles not used to the freezing temperatures have become 'cold-stunned.' The hypothermic reaction in cold-blooded animals makes them lethargic and unable to move.
Volunteers have rescued upwards of 2,500 turtles in South Padre Island, Texas, keeping them warm in the city's convention center.
Sea Turtle Inc. needs donations to help care for thousands of turtles stunned by this week’s cold snap. To contribute, go to seaturtleinc.org.
