Grilling isn’t just for men and Christie Vanover is empowering others to flip the script.
The founder of girlscangrill.com stated, “It’s been marketed as kind of a territory for guys and it’s that big burly place that you want to be. And I think with the change in the grilling industry with different types of grilling product and what I’m trying to do and other women out there are trying to do, I think we’re starting to make grilling more approachable.”
The grill master definitely isn’t afraid of a little bit of heat — in fact she has 20 grills. And she’s grilled everything from cupcakes to alligators.
“I realized though my grilling experiences that other women didn’t feel as empowered to get behind the grill. So, I started girlscangrill.com, which is a website that really promotes grilling for women. It lets woman know its ok to jump out there and turn on the fire. I think it’s a more fun way to cook.” Vanover explained.
She competes in cooking and barbecuing competitions while working a full-time job and writing for her website. She hopes that her experiences and her writing will help change the grilling storyline, while empowering more women to try it out.
