This pizzeria only sells NY-style vegan pies — but you might not even notice there are no animal products.
Screamer’s Pizzeria serves more than 1,500 slices per day. The pizzas are topped with all the classic ingredients but all the dairy cheese is replaced with vegan cheese. They use Numu mozzarella, which is made from soy beans and coconut oil — but the “cheese” still has that melty texture. They also serve ricotta and parmesan made from almonds.
Screamer’s sausage and pepperoni are made from seitan, or wheat gluten. They also have vegan ham, chorizo, and chicken toppings. Some unique pizza combos include mac and cheese, BBQ jackfruit, fancy kale, Hawaiian, and chick’n and curly fries.
Screamer’s was one of the first vegan pizza joints in Brooklyn. The place is named after the sound that mushrooms make on the grill. It has a location in Greenpoint and Crown Heights. The Crown Heights location also serves sandwiches and pasta.
