This company has been selling vegan yogurt with dairy in it. A small amount of dairy was detected in Co Yo Yogurt — which could be a potential health risk to people who are lactose-intolerant. Now, it’s being recalled from supermarket shelves.
The company recently stated on Instagram, “We are devastated by this, especially as being dairy-free sits at the heart of everything we do and we’ve always taken great care to ensure we provide our customers with high-quality, dairy-free products, made in our own dairy-free factory.”
It only affects the yogurt in the UK and the company stated that the contamination came from a third-party supplier — though they make all their yogurts with the same ingredients. They use different suppliers in different countries. One of the UK suppliers had a cross-contamination issues that wasn’t reported, which led to the dairy in the yogurt. Co Yo has ended their relationship with this supplier and is working with the government and the Food Standards Agency to pull all contaminated yogurts from grocery stores. They’ve also tested the ingredients in the U.S. and it all came back negative.
Co Yo encouraged people to return their yogurts that have a use by date earlier then and including March 16, 2018.
