This Home Only Costs $2.35 A Year To Power

This home’s energy bill is just $2.35 a year. The ’10 Star Home’ was built using a zero-waste philosophy in order to minimize its carbon footprint. It claims to be Australia’s first 10 Star carbon-positive home. The actual construction of the home created very minimal waste, generating only three bags of trash after installation. Suppliers were asked to minimize packaging and to recycle any remaining materials. The home also features rooftop solar panels and a 2,642 gallon rainwater tank. It’s insulated with bio-phase change material, which warms the inside without a heater. The firm responsible for it hopes to encourage home builders to build environmentally friendly homes, and considering how beautiful this 10 Star home is, that might be incentive enough.
