Device Controls Paper Plane From Your Mobile Phone

This device allows you to control a paper plane with your phone.

PowerUp 4.0 is the fourth iteration of a system that adds an electric propeller to a paper plane. It has two rear motors, plus an accelerometer and gyroscope.

According to the products Kickstarter, the new additions make it easier to pull off tricks and fly in windy conditions. Users can fly their paper planes using a companion iOS and Android app from distances up to 230 ft and at speeds up to 20 mph. PowerUp 4.0’s app also has autopilot feature, allowing users to automatically do tricks, like loops and barrel rolls.

PowerUp 4.0 works for planes made from different materials, like cardboard or balsa wood, as long as the plane’s weight doesn’t exceed 20 grams. It even works on a lettuce leaf.

The device is crowdfunding on Kickstarter and will retail for $79.
