This Suit Is Meant To Help You Meditate In Peace

This meditation suit helps you zen out, while helping you learn how different external circumstances can affect your meditative state.

The “silence suit” is a piece of wearable technology that tracks a user’s bio and environmental data. Its purpose is to help people find the perfect setting for meditation.

“What I’m interested in is to see if your environment can help you meditate better,” stated the suit’s inventor Danielle Roberts. “For example, if you change the light, will that make you concentrate better or stay more alert or relaxed?”

The inner layer of the suit contains sensors that track a wearer’s breathing, skin temperature, and perspiration. The outer layer logs environmental factors, like temperature, humidity, and light. The neck strap measures the wearer’s posture.

“It’s a kit that can help you do your own experiments, so once you’ve tracked light you can maybe move on and see how sound influences your meditation or, for example, smell of incense,” explained Roberts.

Data from the suit is sent to a local server and analyzed by an algorithm. With the data, users can then alter their environment and tailor different aspect of their environment to create a better and more effective meditative experience.
