This woman wants to arm teachers…with markers instead of guns. So she started a fundraiser to get teachers supplies.
“I can’t imagine having a gun in a kindergarten classroom. I don’t think that a child seeing a gun feels safe. I think that that’s — more scary.” Tobi Waldron, a kindergarten teacher, stated. “I have five to six-year-olds that I am in charge of every day. Where would I put a gun? On my person? I sit criss-cross applesauce on a carpet all day long. I’m up and down my — my chairs are like this big.”
Waldron is a kindergarten teacher in Nevada. She started #ArmMeWithExpos to seek donations, in hopes of giving her teacher friends supplies they can actually use.
She explained, “I made a Facebook post with an Amazon Wish List. And I did that in the morning, and then and by lunchtime, when I checked I had 600 markers donated.”
She was inspired by the #ArmMeWith campaign by teachers offering alternatives to Trump’s suggestion to arm teachers with guns to prevent school shootings.”
Waldron’s campaign received more than 3,000 markers. She handed them out at her local March For Our Lives rally and is donating extra markers still coming in.
