Amy Stanton is de-stigmatizing “feminine words.”
“Now more than ever, in a world where toxic masculinity is at the heart of so many of society’s problems, powerful femininity, whether it’s in men or women, can be the solution,” she explained. “We are all part of the feminine revolution.”
Feminine qualities, like sensitivity, emotionality, and vulnerability, have traditionally be considered weak. But Stanton wants to turn that thought process on its head and make people see that femininity is a strength. The author said she was a sensitive girl growing up and had trouble embracing that quality.
“I wish that when I were a young women, younger women, that someone had said to me ‘Amy, your sensitivity is great,’” she said. “It’s ok to be mothering. It’s ok to be controlling. I wish someone had given me all these cues and had said, you know what, it’s totally ok to be yourself.”
Through her writing, Stanton is teaching others to appreciate all emotions.
“We are all about owning our femininity and leaning into our feminine qualities like emotionality and sensitivity, even crying easily,” she explained “I think we can all do this together. And once we start working together to create an environment where femininity is powerful or is welcomed as powerful, everything can change.”
