Ben and Jerry’s made an ice cream for resistors and the company is vowing to support the Women’s March.
Pecan Resist is Ben and Jerry’s newest flavor. The limited batch flavor is a nut and fudge-filled chocolate ice cream. The ice cream company is also supporting four organizations fighting for progress.
“We cannot be silent in the face of the President’s policies that attack and attempt to roll back decades of progress on racial and gender equality, climate change, LGBTQ rights, and refugee and immigrant rights — all issues that have been at the core of our social mission for 40 years,” they stated on Instagram.
The company has promised to donate $25,000 to Color of Change, an org fighting injustices faced by Black communities, Honor the Earth, a nonprofit addressing environmental issues affecting Native communities, Neta, a media platform working to amplify the voices of people on the Texas-Mexico border, and the Women’s March, a women-led movement fighting for social and legislative change.
Ben & Jerry’s has a history of using its products for advocacy. A portion of its royalties on the popular Phish Food flavor goes toward funding environmental efforts in Vermont.
Many are applauding Ben & Jerry’s for pairing its sweet treats with strong initiatives.
