Women Say Thanks To Cecile Richards On Her Last Day As Planned Parenthood's President

People all over the world are thanking Cecile Richards as she steps down as president of Planned Parenthood.

Richards has been Planned Parenthood President for 12 years. She has been a leader in women’s reproductive rights, testifying before congress, organizing protests and encouraging women to be outspoken and issues that matter to them.

Representing, more than 600 Planned Parenthood centers that provide care to millions of women around the country, Richards led planned parenthood through defunding attempts and even a conspiracy that the women’s health org sold fetal tissue — a claim that was proven false — but led Congress to question Richard for more than 5 hours.

Richards is a Texas native and the daughter of Texas’ 2nd woman governor, Ann Richards. Before leading Planned Parenthood, Richards was chief of staff for House Leader Nancy Pelosi and founder of America Votes, a voter registration organization. Since she joined Planned Parenthood, the org has raised millions to support women’s healthcare and secure free birth control for 62 million women through the Affordable Care Act.

She says she’s been “so honored” to be part of the fight for reproductive health care and encourages everyone to continue fighting for women’s reproductive freedom and healthcare.
