Chessie King morphed her body in response to hateful comments to raise awareness about cyberbullying.
King is a fitness trainer and Instagram blogger who teamed up with anti-cyberbullying nonprofit Cybersmile to create a video revealing the extent of body-shaming she receives online. In the video, King applies the negative comments and photoshops her body to show what she’d look like if all the trolls got their way.
“I feel a huge responsibility online, but especially offline, to spread the word offline and protect people who are getting trolled,” she explained to The Independent. “It is a form of bullying and it cannot carry on.”
King promotes body positivity on her Instagram. She shares tips and exercises for natural ways to feel good about your body.
“It’s so easy to reach to pills that you think will help, but I find the best way to relieve it and wake the body up is a little flow,” she stated on Instagram in reference to various supplements.
Girls are about twice as likely as boys to face online harassment. But King hopes the campaign will show everyone that nobody is perfect, and encourage them to embrace their bodies, not matter what flaws they think they have.
