Juli Briskman flipped off President Trump — and now she’s running for office.
Briskman made headlines in October 2017 after she gave Trump’s motorcade the bird. Shortly after, she was fired from her job at a government contracting firm, which fueled her desire to fight for First Amendment rights.
Briskman filed a lawsuit against the company. A GoFundMe page for her also raised more than $100,000. Now she’s going a step further and running for public office.
“Today, I am filing my organization papers in a bid for local office in a Loudoun County, Va,” she stated on Twitter. “Loudon deserves transparency in government, fully funded schools and smarter solutions to growth. It’s time for a change.”
Briskman is running for Algonkian District Supervisor in Loudoun County, Virginia. However, her campaign announcement has received some criticism because of her “disrespect shown toward the presidency.” But others say Briskman’s bold moves are much needed in politics and they’re giving her the thumbs up.
