Makeup company Revlon has its first woman CEO — and it only took them 86 years.
Debra Perelman is Revlon’s new CEO and President and has been at the company for 20 years. She’s worked in top executive roles, including COO — now she’s being asked to bring the brand back to life, as it faces a growing number of competitors,
“Beauty has emerged as one of today’s most dynamic and fastest-growing [fields] and I look forward to working with Revlon’s world-class team to amplify our strategy and accelerate growth,” she explained, on behalf of the company.
Revlon is ready for a woman to help revive its brand — and it seems its consumers have been ready for a while.
@wyndhamw tweeted, “It’s almost funny… the 86-year old women’s cosmetics behemoth — yep, talking to you @revlon — just appointed its first ever female CEO. Via @FortuneMagazine Wow. Just wow.”
@LevanonAdi tweeted, “Hard to believe a male wsa running this makeup company till now. Wonder what this change will bring. Exciting to see more glass ceilings being broken! Revlon just named its first woman CEO!”
Everyone is eager to see what the new leadership will bring to the brand, but, considering Perelman has a pretty impressive resume, she’ll probably make plenty of positive improvements.
