Rihanna and Emmanuel Macron Unite To Fundraise For Girls' Education

Rihanna is helping raise millions for girls’ education — and is getting help from foreign leaders. 130 million girls around the world are not in school and RiRi wants to change that. So, the pop star is teaming up with French President Emmanual Macron to give kids around the world a better education.

Rihanna performed in Dakar, Senegal at a benefit concert co-hosted by Macron to raise money for the cause. The president pledged $200 million to support the mission. This isn’t the first time Rihanna was raised money for kids. In 2012, she founded the Clara Lionel Foundation in honor of her grandparents, to support education and health services for kids around the globe.

In 2016, the foundation teamed up with the Global Partnership for Education to expand its reach.

“We’ve made tremendous progress today, of course, our work is never done, We have a long way to go. This is a fight we’re never gonna stop fighting until every boy and every girl has access to education.” Rihanna explained, regarding the issues she’s passionate about. Celebrities have a unique and powerful platform — so it’s always inspiring to see when that platform is used to promote social issues and help fix various problems in the world.
