Women in this tiny village made a naked calendar to promote body positivity. About 80 of the local women from 18 to 84 years old participated and raised over $7,000 for a documentary on body positivity The Wonders of Whimple is based out of Whimple, England and showcased the diversity of women’s bodies in a calendar. They’re using the funds to screen the documentary “Embrace” at school in the village. The documentary promotes positive body image.
They’re also donating to two breast cancer charities. Only about 2,000 people live in Whimple so the calendar became big news. More than 100 people showed up at the launch party and more than 100 calendars sold in the first 15 minutes.
Nine out of 10 girls in the UK struggle with their body image which leads to putting their health at risk by not eating or avoiding meetings with doctors. Wonders of Whimple was organized by Gill Wilson who’s an eating disorder therapist.
She stated, “I want someone to feel it’s relatable and appreciate that we’re all beautiful with our stretch marks and cellulite. We’ve got amazing, amazing bodies, and it makes me really sad that so many people go through life hating their bodies.”
