WNBA star Natasha Cloud addressed reproductive rights head-on in an interview.
“This is a conversation that’s been going on within every locker room in the WNBA,” she explained. “So, it’s gonna be a topic of conversation, but for me personally, it’s asinine to me that there can be a majority of white men sit down in a room and decide what the future is for women’s health.”
Cloud says she would like to see more NBA stars speak up when it comes to the fight for reproductive rights.
“I think it’s somewhat comparable to the NFL, where Black athletes were protesting the national anthem, and what Black athletes were asking for was ok, we’re doing it, but it would mean more if our white teammates would support us and back us,” she said. “So the same too, when you’re talking about abortion it’s we can speak on this all day because it directly affects us as women, but when you’re talking about having powerful male voices support us and back us, on this issue, it’s gonna make the difference.”
Cloud also said she feels empowered by her team and the WNBA to speak out on a whole range of important issues.
