Women's March Organizer Linda Sarsour Talks Community Leadership

Women’s March Organizer Linda Sarsour talked to NowThis about the ethos of the movement and how people can be better allies.

“We have a lot to offer. This is our moment to lead our country and to win in 2018. This is not a women’s-only movement, this is a women’s-led movement. Joining this women’s-led movement will inspire you, will move you, will take you to the victory what we need. To protect our families, our communities, and the people that we love most. Women know how to bring people together. Our women’s-led movement centers the most marginalized communities, the people who are most impacted by the policies being brought down by this administration and our Congress.”

She went on to say, “It’s important for us as a women’s-led movement to build power and bring movements together because the more movements, the more issues we bring to the table, the more people come to the table. Women are strategic. Women have always fought in every single movement historically in our country, and it is time now for us to come to the front lines where we belong, and were we should always be.”

In regard to what men can do for the movement, she stated, “To our men allies, you are welcome to this movement. You are our partners, you are our sons, you are our fathers, you are uncles and grandparents. We love you and need you in this movement, and when we fight, we fight for you, too.”
