Airbnb launched Luxe rental so you can vacation in a villa.
Airbnb Luxe features 2,000 luxury listings from around the world. The spaces high-end accommodations with rare characteristics. Rentals include castles, urban penthouses, and French villas.
The average rates are between $1,500 and $2,000 per night. But for $1.1 million a week, 52 people can stay on a private island in French Polynesia with its own self-declared time zone.
Airbnb acquired these rentals through Luxury Retreats, a company they procured in 2017. Every home passes a strict evaluation process that meets more than 300 criteria, instead of the 100-point inspection its “Plus”-tier homes undergo.
“Plus-level homes may have hosts and could still be spare rooms in a larger house,” Airbnb Spokeswoman Maria Rodriguez stated. No hosts are present in Luxe-level offerings, which are often multi-story mansion or impressive urban pieds-á-terre.”
The new tier also gives guests access to “trip designers” who can deliver customized experiences.
“With Airbnb Luxe we are applying the same approach we’ve used since we launched Airbnb more than 11 years ago—creating local, authentic and magical travel moments now in amazing places to stay—to reimagine the way people think and experience luxury travel,” Aribnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky stated.
