This Woman Started a Global Movement Centered Around Failing in Business

This woman wants you to talk about your failures. Leticia Gasca co-founded ‘F*ckup Nights’ in 2012, a global movement where people publicly share business failure stories. F*ckup Night holds events in 252 cities across 80 countries in 26 different languages. “The most important thing that we do is to put the taboo on the table,” says Gasca, “To create a safe space to talk about failure and to learn from it.” Attendees’ failure stories eventually inspired Gasca to create The Failure Institute, the only Think Tank to exclusively study failed businesses. Studying failure in different countries and within different industries lead to the launch of the Global Failure Index, an interactive data platform that showcases the learnings from F*ckup Nights. Gasca says that bad financial planning is the #1 reason businesses fail. “You really need to learn accounting,” she says, “This meticulous recording of financial transactions…it’s a crucial process required for the success of any type of business.” It’s OK to fail, as long as you learn from it.
