Old Navy Fires 3 Employees After Racial Profiling Allegations

These old Navy employees were fired after a customer accused them of racial profiling. James Conley III said he walked into Old Navy wearing an Old Navy jacket he got for Christmas. He said when he went to pay for some hoodies, an employee asked if he was going to pay for the jacket he was wearing.

He said that even though he denied stealing the Jacket, the employee scanned the tag and tried to get him to pay for it. Conley refused and asked the manager to check the surveillance footage. The footage showed him wearing the jacket when he walked into the store.

Conley says that no one apologized after the incident.

“Said that I stole my jacket that I came in with and they checked the cameras. The manager couldn’t even come back to talk to me to tell me I was right. This is like, super ridiculous right now.” Conley stated in a phone video.

He is also filing a civil rights complaint along with a civil damages lawsuit against Old Navy. They apologized for the incident and said it terminated the three employees involved, but not much else is known regarding whether they took any further action.
