Snapchat’s new update is facing historically bad backlash, after unveiling the most drastic redesign to its app. People are lashing out like crazy — in fact, a fake tweet has become one of the most viral ever, promising to bring the old interface back with enough retweets, stating, “Though we have been receiving many compliments on the new layout, we understand that it just may take some getting used to. If it appears to be a general consensus that people want the old format back, we will take that into consideration. As far as retweets go, how does 50,000 sound?” The fake DM received 1.4 million retweets, as of this writing,
The update entailed a layout change, so stories and friends are on one page, and discover content is on another. But people aren’t pleased with the sudden change, saying that it is confusing and unnecessary. Someone even started an online petition asking for signatures to remove the Snapchat — so far it has collected over 700,000 signatures.
Snapchat said it’s taking customer complaints into account but it doesn’t seem like it will go back to the oil interface:
“Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once that settle in.”
