Wendy’s is trolling McDonald’s with a meme, depicting one of their burgers fading away into pixelated oblivion. This meme is based off of a somber scene from the new “Avengers: Infinity War” movie.
McDonald’s recently announced it would use fresh beef for all of its signature burgers and quarter pounders by the end of 2018.
Wendy’s was swift to respond to the big announcement, tweeting, “Hey @McDonalds, heard the news. Happy #NationalFrozenFoodDay to you for all the frozen beef that’s sticking around in your cheeseburgers.”
And their online egging on didn’t stop there — Wendy’s then started a thread pointing out the burgers still made with frozen patties like their hamburger and double cheeseburger.
Wendy’s online burns aren’t anything new — they’ve actually been trolling the golden arches since early 2018. In a super Bowl commercial, they bashed McDonald’s for “being “flash frozen.” They also released a mixtape titled “We Beefin?” with plenty of fast food-related rap burns within the tracks.
As of March 2018, McDonald’s had already launched fresh meat at 3.500 locations across the U.S. and plans to reach 14,000 by early May. It’s hard to say whether Wendy’s culturally-relevant harassment is breaking their stride, but it’s definitely interesting to watch their continued feud.
