There’s a lot more to Robin’s costume evolution than some super short shorts and a yellow cape.
Batman and Robin, the dynamic duo, are two of the most influential superheroes in all of comic books. But the grim and gritty DC Comics superhero Batman might actually owe his popularity to his sidekick, Robin, the Boy Wonder. And though many have played him throughout history, today we are focusing on the first Robin, Dick Grayson.
Robin has always been subject to the forces of evolution, from his time under Batman’s wing to leading the Teen Titans. As he became his own hero, the evolution of Nightwing has also been subject to the forces of comic book trends and fads. Today, Dick Grayson is more than a sidekick — he’s a superhero sex symbol, and soon, he’ll become a star.
From the first Teen Titans Go! trailer, we knew that the movie was going to be a more lighthearted take on the Boy Wonder. But if you’re looking for a more traditional take, the live action Teen Titans show with Brenton Thwaites’ Robin should be dropping any minute. Either way, whether you call him Robin, Nightwing, or just plain Dick, Richard Grayson is one of the most iconic heroes in superhero history.
