John Oliver released a book about Mike Pence’s bunny being gay and it’s topping Amazon’s bestseller list.
On his show, “Last Week Tonight,” Oliver stated, “This is actually a book for children. This is a real children’s book. This isn’t some adult book telling Mike Pence to go f*ck himself, although in buying it that’s exactly what you would be doing.”
Oliver’s book is a parody of Marlon Bundo’s a Day in the Life of the Vice President. The OG book is written by Pence’s daughter and illustrated by his wife. It gives readers a look of the life of Marlon Bundo, the Pence family bunny.
Oliver announced his book’s release on his March 18 show, the night before the Pence book was released. It follows Marlon Bundo falling in love with Wesley, another male bunny. The story is a stark contrast to Pence’s anti-LGBTQ+ history. One of the stops on the Pence book tour is at Focus on the Family, a major anti-LGBTQ+ group that supports conversion therapy.
Oliver’s book is currently #1 on Amazon’s bestseller list, while the Pences’ is in the 4th spot at the time of publication. Prceeds from Pence’s book go to Tracy’s Kids, an art therapy program and A21, a program that works to end human trafficking. Proceeds from Oliver’s parody will go to the Trevor Project and AIDS United.
