Researcher Madeline Peltz broke the Tucker Carlson story—then she joined a protest of his behavior.
“Tucker was on regularly, about once a week between 2006 and 2011, and we found a lot of stuff that I don’t think that Tucker is proud of, I don’t think that Fox News is proud of, and really represents sort of the driving force behind Tucker’s ongoing media career,” she stated.
As part of the watchdog group Media Matters for America, Peltz uncovered Carlson’s racist and sexist by listening to dozens of hours of “Bubba the Love Sponge.” The Fox News correspondent also made homophobic comments with the shock jock, as well as repeated jokes about child marriage.
“A lot of the stuff about underage girls, I think is very concerning, and it is a threat to young women and the comments that he made about Iraqis demonstrates that people of color, and people overseas, and immigrants are just not fully human to him,” Peltz stated. “And so it was important that we highlight that so that people can really see Tucker for who he is.”
Peltz as well as other protesters recently gathered outside Fox News HQ to pressure advertisers to drop Carlson’s show.
“I think that people who are advocating for their civil rights have every right to do so,” Peltz said. “And Tucker Carlson has demonstrated that he’s opposed to that.”
