MLK’s granddaughter wants the whole world to hear her message.
She stated, “My name is Yolanda Renee King, granddaughter of Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King. My grandfather has a dream that his four little children ‘will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.’ I have a dream that enough is enough and that this should be a gun-free world. Period.”
She went on to say, “Will you please repeat these words after me: Spread the world! Have you heard? All across the nation! We are going to be a great generation! Ow I’d like you to say it like you really, really mean it! Spread the word! Have you heard? All across this nation! We are going to be a great generation! Now I’d like you to say it like you really, really, mean it!”
Yolanda was one of many public icons, celebrities and Parkland student survivors that spoke out during March for Our Lives rallies. During their speeches, all of them called for action in terms of gun reform and urged protestors to keep fighting for the cause they believe in. Hopefully their efforts will pay off soon and lawmakers will start enacting meaningful gun reform policies.
