Del Hall says he lost 25 lbs by consuming nothing but beer, after he decided to give up everything but the beverage for lent.
Hall, who works at a brewery, says he was inspired by monks.
“Just like the monks used to do it back in the 1600s, I’m going to do the same thing,” he explained on YouTube before undergoing the interesting diet. “I plan on documenting the journey, like, every day.”
Hall said he consulted with his doctor before starting the fast of sorts, and that he takes a multivitamin daily. He also allows himself to drink black coffee, tea, and water. Lent is 46 days long and so far, he has gone 21 days without eating any food. He said the first few days were the hardest but now he feels great. He reportedly has his first beer in the afternoon and then a few more after work.
The army veteran explained he has always struggled with food and has tried a variety of diets, but his beer fast is about more than weight.
“This isn’t about weight loss this is about my journey and about, breaking addiction to food and about you know, trying to challenge myself to replicate, you know, what the monks did back in the 1600s. And bring all that together in modern times,” he said.
Always consult a doctor before beginning any exercise or diet program.
